The Planning Phase

To say this has been an easy process would be an exaggeration. Here are the latest of the house plans. Which is your favorite?

Take a look at the floor plan here.

Have a look at this floor plan here.

There are elements I like in both of these, but I definitely like house #2 the most of these two. I must admit, though, that I think the house you posted a couple of weeks ago is my favorite. I would like having the family room and kitchen open into each other, plus in the house from a few weeks ago you have a fifth bedroom that could easily be turned into an office or library or some such thing if you didn't need it as a bedroom. Just my two cents! love you!

I'm partial to the tan house with the two car garage. I love the covered porches. It seems very spacious without being over the top. I think its perfect. The other one is nice too, but I just like the tan one better!

You have two really nice house plans here, and they would both be great choices. But, I agree with the other poster that I like the brick two story you posted a while back. It just seemed unique. But, whichever you choose, you're going to love building!

Thanks so much ladies for your thoughts. A girl can always count on her oldest and dearest friends! Loretta, I wish we were building the one from a few weeks ago too. Unfortunately, the price tag was to high! So, these two I really like as well.
If we go with the tan one let me share the changes that I'm planning on making:
1. The wall between the kitchen/family room won't be there! I want open, open, open!
2. Use the utility room as a mudroom
3. Put a wall in Bedroom 2 before the alcove and open the alcove up to the Master bed; this will be used as a nursery!! Later as a sewing room or excerise room!
4. Not putting in that seat or cabinet upstairs but instead a laundry closet for the washer/dryer!
Ok, those are the changes.
I don't think we'd make changes to the second plan; but it is bigger so we'll see which plan is cheapest! Fun times! Wish you were closer!

bummer about the first house. You know, the tan house reminds me of the house next door to your parents' house (Claudine's, I think her name was?). Every time I look at it, I think of that house. Maybe it's the color, or maybe it's the general look of the house, but that's what I see when I look at it.
Love the idea of making the alcove into a nursery or some such thing. It will be so useful to have that so close when it's time for there to be little G.'s in the house. :)

I like the first one...

This is my first time to comment on your website and glad that today I thought I would check it out. I too like the first ones layout the best I think. That is the first one of these two. But I am not a fan of tan so don't make it tan. Now of course if you like tan yes but I don't like it. But I really do like the changes that you have wanted too....a nursery someday with windows to bring in the light is beautiful and the laundry upstairs is perfect. All houses should have that. So for my first time note to you...I agree that the first one is my choice and I really like the second ones outside look best but the first one would be my first choice I think. Keep us all informed as you go. HUGS!!!

Sarah! Hey girl...the top house the house my parents built...the one we stayed in during Spring Break one year. I loved that house, everyone called it a doll house. I do love the other one as well but of course i am partial. :) - Brooke K.

Oh my gosh Brooke! I love that house! Your house was so amazing! That is so fun. I've looked at a million plans and it looks like we're going to go with that one! I'm so excited. You'll have to come up and visit once it's finished!!
